Posted on October 28th, 2015

Component Bar Products opened its doors to more than 300 students and instructors from area schools and area residents to celebrate the nationally recognized Manufacturing Day on Oct. 2, according to a press release.

This educational event was part of a larger effort to change people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment and instead draw attention to the outstanding opportunities a career in manufacturing can provide.

Planned manufacturing events on this day included a tour of Component Bar Products state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, a tour of the Mid Missouri Training Center (MMTTC), student Q & A discussion and visitors were able to talk with several area manufacturers that were on-site to display their products and capabilities. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about area manufacturer’s wide range of unique capabilities, including company infrastructure, advanced technologies and multiple areas of expertise.

Manufacturing Day was a huge success and received excellent feedback from the teaching staff and students who attended. As a result of this educational day, many area professionals enjoyed the opportunity to highlight modern manufacturing and inspire the younger population to explore a career in the manufacturing industry.

To mark this year’s event, the city of O’Fallon issued a proclamation honoring Oct. 2 as Manufacturing Day at the Industrial Summit breakfast also held that morning. The proclamation was presented by Mayor Bill Hennessy from the city of O’Fallon to Troy Pohlman, President of Component Bar Products. Each year, the Industrial Summits hosted by the city and the O’Fallon Chamber brings O’Fallon manufacturers together to discuss issues that might be affecting large employers and work together towards possible solutions. In addition, it creates a great opportunity to network local manufacturers together so they create a stronger voice and business relationships.

Manufacturing Day St. Charles County was planned and sponsored by Component Bar Products, Midwest Machine Tool Training Center, St. Charles Community College Workforce Development, city of O’Fallon, O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Economic Development Center of St. Charles County and True Manufacturing.
