Posted on September 30th, 2015

A resolution in support of National Manufacturing Day and related local activities on Friday, Oct. 2 has been issued by the St. Charles County Workforce Development Board, a volunteer group appointed by the County Executive and state officials to represent local business, private institutions, and partner organizations serving job-seekers and employers around Missouri.

In St. Charles County, National Manufacturing Day is being hosted by Component Bar Products and their Midwest Machine Tool Training Center (MMTTC) at 3855 Corporate Centre Drive in O’Fallon, Missouri. Sponsors include the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce, the City of O’Fallon, St. Charles Community College, Economic Development Center of St. Charles County, Partners of Progress of Greater St. Charles, and the St. Charles County Department of Workforce Development.

“Advanced manufacturing is alive and well in St. Charles County,” said Luanne Cundiff, chair of the St. Charles County Workforce Development Board and president of First State Bank of St. Charles. “It currently accounts for about 11 percent of all jobs in our community, and local employers continue to look for more people who are interested in these high-demand, well-paying careers.”

Cundiff congratulated Component Bar Products and the MMTTC for drawing more attention to career opportunities in advanced manufacturing through hosting National Manufacturing Day for the last two years.

Over 400 high school students Friday morning will tour the MMTTC and see exhibits from companies such as General Motors, SunEdison, True Manufacturing, Zoltek, King Innovation and Independent Tool.

An open house and career exploration for adults will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the MMTTC. This informative event is open to the public and includes free food, prizes, and fun for all.
