Posted on September 28th, 2015

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – Officials from Component Bar Products and their Midwest Machine Tool Training Center (MMTTC) will be in attendance at the Sept. 28 County Council meeting to accept a proclamation celebrating National Manufacturing Day on Oct. 2. County Executive Steve Ehlmann will present the proclamation.

“From GM to the Highway 40 tech corridor, manufacturing is a vital part of St. Charles County’s economy,” said Ehlmann. “We are proud to collaborate in celebrating National Manufacturing Day and to be a part of initiatives that help educate the next generation on career opportunities in advanced manufacturing fields.”

National Manufacturing Day is celebrated throughout the United States and focuses attention on promising career opportunities in today’s advanced manufacturing fields. O’Fallon-based Component Bar Products and MMTTC were the catalysts in bringing the day to St. Charles County last year. MMTTC opened in March 2014 in the O’Fallon Corporate Center, adjacent to Component Bar Products, and offers hands-on, project-based learning that includes robotics, metallurgy, quality control, team work, and soft skills to help young adults age 18 to 28 start well-paying industrial jobs.

This year’s day will be celebrated at MMTTC and includes middle and high-school sponsored tours in the morning and the opportunity for the public to tour, experience live demos, enjoy food and more in the afternoon from 2-6 p.m. St. Charles County’s Department of Workforce Development, operator of the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County, is a sponsor of the event along with the City of O’Fallon, the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County, the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce, and St. Charles Community College.
